At the start of 2021 I challenged myself to paint 30 portraits in 30 days. The majority are 6x6" oil paintings on paper, with a 2 hour time limit set for each. I used this as an opportunity to practice direct portrait painting without using a grid or doing a detailed drawing, and using various types of limited palettes (progress photos on Instagram). The majority are of my family so a few faces crop up multiple times!
